VDL SPECIAL VEHICLES

We are VDL Special Vehicles, we specialize in conversion, bodywork and adaptation of vehicles.
This includes battery electric and hydrogen solutions for on- and off-road vehicles.

With 120 employees, VDL Special Vehicles focuses, from our location in Born, on assembling proto-construction
and pre-series vehicles. Driven by innovation, VDL Special Vehicles delivers smarter mobility solutions for on- and
off-road vehicles. Primarily, we operate in three markets: vehicle conversions (e.g., police and defense vehicles),
contract manufacturing (e.g., production of campers and midi buses), and zero-emission vehicles (e.g., electric buses,
hybrid trucks, and automated vehicles).

We are a company that believes in long-term relationships with our customers. We enjoy thinking along with our customers at an early stage, so that they remain or become successful within their market segment. The diversification in markets provides, in addition to continuity for the company, a lot of variety and challenge in engineering, project management, and production. This sets high demands on the creativity, flexibility, inventiveness, and enthusiasm of our employees.

As a contract manufacturer, we provide production capacity for small to medium-sized series of (zero-emission) vehicles.

In additin, we can also support in areas such as product development, prototyping, and certification of zero-emission drivelines, up to the extent of fully developing an alternative driveline for your application. VDL Special Vehicles enables its customers, with a short time-to-market strategy to offer vehicle solutions that make the world a cleaner place.
